You can see the biggest flaw in the leather here: two cracks on the side of the driver’s seat. Also visible here, the floor mat on the driver’s side has some stains because when it rains really hard, sometimes water leaks from the ceiling. It drips just to the right of the driver’s seat. I’m not sure why. Manual Transmission, Heating Here’s a view of the center dash area. I had a new stereo system installed around 2011-ish. There’s a USB port where you can plug in your smartphone to play music or talk on speaker phone. The CD player works too. Unlike those newfangled touch screens, you can push all the buttons and feel them click. The heater works. I only have been getting the oil changed 1-2 times per year. I recommend Greentree Auto in Hood River. It was last there in February 2023. They replaced the mass airflow sensor, did a front brake realign, machined brake rotors, cleaned and lubed caliper slide pins. They also serviced transfer case fluid. They identified a slight oil seep and recommended watching it, possibly reseal if it gets worse. There are no photos of the boat ride because it was essentially 2 straight hours of being bombarded in the face with rain and salt water while crashing up and down. There were moments I thought I would get sick and moments I thought I would pee my (already wet) pants. I was giving myself pep talks in case we capsized to keep my wits about me and grab Darach before we became separated by the giant waves. Also the journey was long. It was flat in the sense that it hugged the coastline and therefore didn't have much elevation gain. We decided to try it and we made it almost all the way. It was fun to see more rural country and small towns and farms. The road got smaller and smaller and turned into a tiny dirt path with grass growing in the center. It was getting dark and a storm was coming. We hadn't seen a car or even a person for miles. I got scared and said we should turn around. I was curious about it but we didn't have time to do the tour. It was just a short day trip from the house. It allows more of a view of the mangroves and interior forest. We never met Juan Pablo but the father and a younger son came consistently to cook for us. They did an excellent job. We chatted a lot and they were lovely. It is mostly a graphic design, industrial design, and architecture school, somewhat ironically, since I became a designer in the long run. Hosting foreign students is a side gig here. I ended up having to go inside because the car broke down yet again. Thankfully there was a side door open despite it being Saturday and while nobody spoke English they were fairly understanding and willing to help given that I had been a student there 23 years ago!
